Chatham First Night New Year, a unique Tradition

The Cape Cod seaside village of Chatham is an intimate, fun, relaxing, family-friendly New Year’s Eve experience.  Therefore Chatham First Night is a great alternative over crowded city celebrations.

Chatham will ring in the New Year with entertainment and activities for all ages Saturday December 31st.
The theme of the 26th edition  is “Light Up the Town,” and the event will feature several musical acts and activities for kids.
Furthermore Chatham First Night had grown from just being a small town mirror of what Boston was doing to thriving wonderful tradition.

Events kick off at noon with the town picture at the Chatham Light House. This years entertainers include Chinese folk dancers, a bluegrass band, a barbershop quartet, a juggler, concert pianist and a magician to name a few.

Chatham First Night has something for everybody.

Chatham First Night has something for everybody.  Several activities will be available for families and kids.  A favorite Bubble Wrap Stomp, Children’s Art Studio and face painting returns.  From 1 p.m. until 6 p.m. will be two miniature golf courses.  Chatham First Night will also include horse-drawn wagon rides and the Carnival Caper road race.

In addition children can bring noisemakers and light sticks for the annual Noise Parade.  Beginning at 6 p.m. at the corner of Cross Street and Main Street and ends at the Chatham Community Center.

Following is the first of two fireworks displays will begin right after the parade. So the little ones will not miss out.  The second adult firework display will get underway at midnight following the Countdown and famous dropping of “The Cod” at midnight.

In conclusion with over 60 events and performances that go on throughout the day this is a unique experience to be to welcome in the new year.
