Take me out the the ball game!” Spends a summer evening and see a couple future Boston Red Sox while you take in a game at Veterans Field. Home of the Chatham Anglers, Cape Cod Baseball League.
Chatham is loaded with family friendly events. One of my favorite is the down town Friday night band concerts. Nearly a 100 year old tradition, families gather around a gazebo on grassy hills spread out on blankets and enjoy traditional band music. You feel a part of history in this real festive atmosphere.
Real gem which is less then a 5 minute walk, secluded down a little dirt road is a town tennis court which also has a child climbing gym and basketball hoop. I understand the town is making some additions and updates to it in the Spring 2016. It is a great little secret spot that not too many even know about.
An abundance of water sports are available from boating, surfing, scuba diving, deep sea fishing. See our list of recommended vendors on our Services Page.
One of the best day trips, just 5 minutes down the road you can catch the high speed ferry to Nanucket. Free day parking and a great public transportation system on the island allows you to take all Nantucket has to offer.
Some of the best Golf on the east coast just a short distance from the house.
Great restaurants to choose from in the neighborhood within walking distance. From elegant dinning to more casual.
Many charter leaving daily from several points on the Cape. Cape Cod is one of the best spots in the world to have the rare opportunity to come face to face with a migrating Humpback Whale pod. The last time I went with my family we could smell there breath.
A host of Festivals to enjoy year round. From the famous Chatham First Night on Jan 1st to Cranberry harvest festivals. There is a Chatham Visitor Center just around the corner ready to fill you in and help plan unique family fun.
Here is a great tip. You can spend more then $30 a person an a Seal sightseeing tour or you can simply go the the Chatham Fish Pier and watch a multitude of seals just waiting for a fishing boat to come in and drop a few their way. A real up close and personal experience any time of year.
There is also a great Water Taxi service that can take your family out to North Beach and Monomoy Island Beach which is very private and remote. A great day trip. Beachcomber Boat Company’s water shuttles make the run from the Chatham Fish Pier to North Beach and back all day long (10 a.m. – 5 p.m.), the round-trip fare for adults is $20, for kids 12 and younger it’s $10.
A couple areas on the Cape allow four wheel drive vehicles on a stretch of beach and dunes with the correct town permit and equipment during certain times of the year when the Terns & Plover, which are rare beach nesting birds are not raising their young. Ask John for more detail info if you are interested.
Chatham boosts in having some of the most diversified beaches available on the Cape. Forest Beach is just a 5 minute walk at 4/10 of a mile. This natural beach is unique and very private and does not require a parking pass or paid admission unlike the larger busier beaches in the area. Perfect to have a bonfire in the evening. There are also several town beaches minutes away to choose from, to very kid friendly, to a bit more surf, each has its own personality. There is even a calm fresh water glacier formed kettle pond right off the beautiful Cape Cod Bike Trail. Chatham is garenteed to have a great choice of beaches to suit everyone.
